Custom cylinder head kitPreventing gas leakage is a key link to ensure efficient and stable operation of the engine, which is mainly achieved through the following aspects.
First, the selection of sealing materials is extremely critical. High-quality sealing gaskets are the first line of defense. Usually, materials that are resistant to high temperature, high pressure and have good elasticity are selected, such as asbestos composite gaskets or metal gaskets. Asbestos composite gaskets combine the high temperature resistance of asbestos and the elasticity of rubber, and can effectively fill the tiny gap between the cylinder head and the cylinder block. Metal gaskets have higher strength and corrosion resistance and are widely used in high-performance engines. These sealing materials are specially treated during the manufacturing process to ensure that their surface flatness and density meet high standards to provide reliable sealing performance.
Secondly, the machining accuracy of the cylinder head kit is crucial to preventing gas leakage. During the manufacturing process, high-precision CNC machining equipment is used to strictly control the flatness and roughness of key parts such as the bottom surface of the cylinder head and the valve seat ring. For example, the flatness error of the bottom surface of the cylinder head is usually controlled within a very small range, generally required to be within 0.03 - 0.05 mm. This ensures that the gasket fits tightly with the cylinder head and cylinder block, reducing the channel for gas leakage. At the same time, the valve seat ring and the valve are also highly accurate, and through precise grinding and processing, a good seal can be formed when the valve is closed. The angle accuracy and surface finish of the valve sealing cone are carefully designed and processed to ensure that when the valve is closed, gas cannot leak from between the valve and the seat ring.
Furthermore, reasonable tightening methods and torque control are also important measures to prevent gas leakage. Custom cylinder head kits will specify the appropriate number, distribution and size of bolts when designing. During installation, tighten the cylinder head bolts strictly according to the specified torque value and sequence. Appropriate torque can make the gasket evenly pressurized to avoid leakage caused by excessive or insufficient local pressure. Moreover, some high-performance cylinder head kits will also adopt a multi-stage tightening method, first tightening the bolts initially, and then gradually increasing the torque in the specified sequence, so that the gasket can better adapt to the pressure and achieve the best sealing state.
In addition, the design will also take into account the thermal expansion and deformation of the engine under different working conditions. By optimizing the structure of the cylinder head, such as adding reinforcing ribs or using a special material combination, the deformation of the cylinder head caused by temperature changes when the engine is running can be reduced, thereby maintaining the effectiveness of the seal.
